Constance Brady

Objects of beauty are broken and perhaps to truly know beauty is to deface attraction. With my current body of work, The Trepanation Series, whereby blemishing conventionally attractive paintings, I intend to realize and announce new paragons of beauty. By means of boring a hole through the surface of each painting, at an apex of pronounced compositional and metaphysical pressure, to the sheetrock that I have manicured and inset in the wall beneath, I am propagating an intense response via the new phantom image. The kindred umbra previously bound inside each painting is dramatically released.
