Objects of beauty are broken and perhaps to truly know beauty is
to deface attraction. With my current body of work, The Trepanation
Series, whereby blemishing conventionally attractive paintings, I
intend to realize and announce new paragons of beauty. By means of
boring a hole through the surface of each painting, at an apex of
pronounced compositional and metaphysical pressure, to the sheetrock
that I have manicured and inset in the wall beneath, I am propagating
an intense response via the new phantom image. The kindred umbra
previously bound inside each painting is dramatically released.
