I have lived most of my life in Brooklyn and have been an artist since I was 14. My work is fundamentally linear. I have always been fascinated by the calligraphic gesture of trees and how they overlap and create complex shapes and forms. The patterns in Islamic art have influenced my recent work. The designs displayed in my most recent pieces have been in process for more than 12 years. One artist said, "Being an artist is like sailing a rudderless ship". One never knows where the journey will take us - all one can do is muster courage and daring along the way. Art also is an expression of the dynamic beauty of life itself. It is the expression of the joy of creation.
