Jim Porter

"The Eagle's Gift"
watercolor on paper
20" x 16"
"The Ultimate Penetration"
colored pencil on paper
8 5/8" x 12"
I attempt, through the magic allure of ravishing color and by competing perspectives that create a sense of paradox, to plunge the viewer to tremendous visual-psychological depth into a world of lush, rhythmically sensual beauty, delight, humour, terror and peace which is saturated by the atmosphere of music, and to open a potent abyss of new emotions and ideas which delight and haunt the imagination.

Beside watercolor and pen and ink, I also create wrought iron sculpture, often with an architectural or utilitarian purpose, each an intricate web of flowing iron.

I am also a concert pianist.
