I am never conscious of how the painting will turn out when I start
out
doing a new Piece. I am happy and surprised with the outcome. I
use this process
with both my two-dimensional art and sculptural work," says
Lassiter.
Carolyn Mae developed her interest in art during the early 1970’s
when she
and her husband lived in Mexico with a family of indigenous artists.
She began
drawing on bark paper in 1975 and started to add paint to her drawings
in 1989.
She likes to think of her mixed-media female figures as having stepped
out of
her drawings into the three-dimensional world. She lives in Santa
Fe, New
Mexico and the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. |
