Timeless Interiors
My paintings use interiors as doorways to
another reality. A reality in which
our perception of time and space is altered by the atmospheric
rendering of
traditional rooms. The paint is applied in drippy, washy veils
of color with
large brushes. The mood which this atmospheric field sets up
is then detailed to
suggest object’ art and baroque furniture. The entire
impression is one of
mystery and timelessness.
The ethereal quality of the paintings leads me to create three-dimensional
furniture, which would compliment them. There is a startling tension set
up
between the painted illusion of an interior and a ‘real’ object
from that
interior. Thus the subject of my work is time, space and fashion. |
