Developed by layering washes of translucent color shapes, my
watercolor and
monoprint landscapes play natural forms against architectural
forms, fantasy
against reality, and spirit against mundane. These doors mark
the threshold of
two worlds, two ways of being, one merging into the other.
I create them as
invitations to imagine what is beyond what we know and perceive
as our world,
our safe reality. I am also intrigued by the sense of knowing
that there is a
something there, beyond, yet not ever quite knowing what that
something is, nor
fully experiencing it.
My work is inspired by nature’s changing moods, energy, and
lessons which I
discover and experience in my everyday life and my travels
abroad. No matter
the environment, human beings are spiritually united with nature,
and it this
relationship that I seek to capture in my paintings and prints.
Currently, I work out of my studio in Clinton Hill and exhibit
my work as
well as the work of emerging local artists in my aptly named,
Parlor Gallery. |
