From a cylinder, with a round glass portal, I look out, observing, occasionally participating. An ephemeral sensation of a camouflaged moth, on a tree, in the midst of a lush green forest, absorbing all it’s environs, engulfs me. Others get a glimpse of my life from that portal, that tree, a solitary instant in eternity.

I expose moments in my existence, with others. That is how I exploit my photographic proclivity. Gratification is gained when the visualizations of realities are favorably accepted.

Since my early stages, as an artist and photographer, I am convinced that my potential for creativity escapes the propensity to categorize, characterize, compartmentalize, explain, or limit how I use a camera. What you see is me, this is where I am, this is what I am.

Yuka Hirata is a freelance photographer, and has done portraits, weddings and photojournalism. She also does customized and personal photographic print work for clients.
