Most recently he had a one-man show at Tillie’s of Brooklyn, in January of 2007 and a group show at the M-Gallery in Catskill, NY, in December of 2006. He also had a one-man retrospective exhibit at the Cunneen-Hackett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, in December, 2005. A member of the local arts group, SONYA, he participated in their last two Studio Stroll Gallery tours as well as exhibiting each of the last 2 years at their 1110 Gallery on Fulton street, in Brooklyn.

Mr. Lebenson has illustrated books such as Jane Eyre and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes for Reader’s Digest and worked for many other major publishers, magazines and advertising agencies. A piece from Jane Eyre was represented in the 1985 New York Society of Illustrators Annual Juried Exhibition of the best illustrations of the year.

Mr. Lebenson is also the former publisher of RSVP: The Directory of Illustration & Design, one of the leading illustration directories in the United States.

He regards his work as concerned primarily with light and shadow…how light creates mood and evokes an air of mystery in the shadows it creates. He labels it Realistic Expressionism. His influences range from Rembrandt to Degas, from Velasquez to Hopper, with a little Inness, Ryder and Kollwitz thrown in.
