I am inspired by the natural world to create paintings that play with
the conventions of representation and abstraction. My paintings reach
beyond the literal to create a space informed by memory and imagination.
The new work celebrates the ordinary by exploring the random order
of nature. Looking at patterns found in the forest or rocks piled
at the water’s edge, I see both natural selection and chaos.
In essence, I am mapping an indefinite order: finding space where
solitude reigns and shelters from the unknown.
