Kathy Stecko
Kathy Stecko lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her work largely consists of figurative constructions that use the body as metaphor. Awarded the Avery Hopwood Award for poetry, she often draws inspiration from writing. Kathy’s current body of work – a series wall sculptures – uses the idea of hieroglyphics to sequence the viewer through a somewhat oblique/ambiguous narrative. Her work seems delicately balanced somewhere in-between the subtitles of the everyday and a heightened sense of emergency. Kathy earned her MFA from the New York Academy of Art and her BFA from the University of Michigan.
