Speaking to his world through clay for over thirty five years brings Ragnar Naess to sculptural explorations freed from function.. His old clay friends - mugs, honey pots, casseroles, teapots - remain his daily matrix for new sculpture. Abstractions abound as well as fanciful figures - alter-ego "Bubble" appears as "Jester," "Bubble Thinks He Has A Tree-house," "Bubble Contemplates Gateless Gate," -- reflecting ongoing interest in Zen koans.
