My work explores the emotional relationship between the natural world and the process of painting. Working with light, color, line and form, I push the abstract components of each to create a landscape that jogs the memory without being specific. My recent work focuses on ordinary moments in time and space - places often overlooked despite their raw beauty. In these paintings, color circumvents reality to create an explosive, emotional environment. Likewise, the application of paint is visceral and raw. By turning to nature for my inspiration, I seek the simple truths found in the most ordinary of circumstances.
