I was born in Bedford/Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY on the first day of winter in 1949. My parents of southern birth both moved to New York in the early thirties. My family was quite large, consisting of three elder sisters, an elder brother, two younger brothers, and a younger niece.
I attended public school in Brooklyn, elementary through high school and then on to Brooklyn Museum Art, Pratt Institute, Art Students League, all on scholarship basis. I studied drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking. My primary medium is oils. Very early in my career as an art student I also cultivated graphic design skills, which afforded me the options for employment in the commercial arts field. Raising a family of two daughters, and one son, further grounded and rounded me into the determined created minded person I am today My children are all adults now, with children of their own. I am at the stage in my life when sharing my fine art passion with the world is in the forefront of my goals and aspirations. I define my body of paintings as spiritual expressionism, an improvisational visual art experience in two dimensions. |
